Glisten & Glow Fall Crellies 2020

This is not a sponsored post. All products were purchased by me.

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to swatch and review Glisten & Glow’s Fall Crellies 2020 trio. These are all milky white crellies with glitter mixes and pretty much the same formulas. A crelly (or crellie), if you don’t know, means the formula falls between a creme, which is the standard opaque nail polish formula, and a jelly, which is a sheer nail polish formula often used for nail art and/or to let multiple layers of glitters or flakes shine through. Crellies are therefore less opaque than cremes, but also less sheer than jellies, still showing the depth of multiple layers of glitter/flakes but often able to be built up to full opacity. The bottles are 15ml and retail for $10/each or $29 for the full trio. At time of posting, they are available on Glisten & Glow’s website until they sell out; I believe the maker Jill said she’s not mixing any more batches, so grab these while you can if you’re interested. Now, onto the review!

Quick note about glitter polishes: they’re typically ‘thirsty’, drinking up the formula and drying textured even with top coat. I recommend using a couple of coats of a juicy top coat, or using a product made to smooth out glitter to get rid of all texture and for maximum glossiness. All photos in this post are shown with 1-2 thick layers of top coat. Glitter polishes are also difficult to remove; I recommend using peel-off base coat or the the soak-off method to remove.

Jack O' Lantern Blaze

This polish is described as a white based crellie with various shapes and sizes of chocolate, yellow and orange glitters. Right off the bat, this polish is so much fun! It reminds me of Halloween candy, and I think it might be cool as an accent nail to bring together a Halloween candy skittles manicure. The impact of the glitter in this polish, and in all of them, isn’t really to be super sparkly but more so all the colors and sizes of glitter packed in there, which I think is common for milky crellies. And, like most crellies, it looks fantastic matte. Shown here are 3 coats of the polish, first glossy and then topped with Glisten & Glow’s matte top coat.

Harvest Moon Skies

This polish is described as a white based crellie loaded with various shapes and sizes of navy, turquoise, gray, gunmetal, and aqua glitters. This is a beautiful polish and probably the one I’ll wear the most into the winter. It reminds me of cloudy fall/winter skies and snow. The depth in this polish is amazing, and I get softer, dreamy vibes from it, especially matte. Shown here are 3 coats of the polish, first glossy and then topped with Glisten & Glow’s matte top coat.

The Great Grape Stomp

This polish is described as a white based crellie loaded with various shapes and sizes of purple, lavender, garnet, gray and gun metal glitters. This polish has fewer large glitters and more of the small glitter, which for some reason gives me a little bit of a speckled, cookies and cream vibe. Don’t ask, that’s just where my brain went lol. It also strikes me as a sort of cloudy dusk look, which I dig. Something else I want to note about all of these is that because of all the glitter packed in, the base actually appears to the eye to be slightly tinted, despite being white based, which I like. Shown here are 3 coats of the polish, first glossy and then topped with Glisten & Glow’s matte top coat.

That’s all for today folks! I hope you enjoyed. My favorite is Harvest Moon Skies, blue is my favorite color and it’s just lovely, though Jack O’ Lantern Blaze is close behind since it’s so much fun.
