August Hella Handmade Creations Recap
This is not a sponsored post. All items were bought by me.
Hi folks! Today I’m going to show off what I picked up in August’s Hella
Handmade Creations (HHC) preorder. Every month tons of indie nail polish brands
make exclusive nail polishes that will only be available during that month’s
order period on the Hella Handmade Creations website. What I’m showing isn’t
currently available (other than secondhand) but hopefully my post can be helpful
by showing an example of what would be available and the formulae of certain
makers. Also, you get to see pretty polish ;)
Bluebird Lacquer, Every Rose Has
its Thornbill
This is a gorgeous, forest-olive jelly with shifting flakes. This
color makes me think of leaves starting to turn, and would also be great for the
holidays. The flakies lay down easily, there’s no texture or flakes sticking out
that need to be adjusted. Being a jelly formula, three coats dry to a glossy,
semi-sheer look that gives a lot of depth to the flakes. You could go for four
coats if you wanted an even deeper color or full opacity, but I’d suggest
painting over a similar creme base color instead to save the polish.
Great Lakes
Lacquer, It’s The Quenchiest
This is a lovely dusty salmon with
yellow-gold-green shifting shimmer with a little holo twinkle under strong
direct lighting. I think it would be a great color for more conservative
settings, or just for a more delicate look. The shimmer is more subtle on the
nail than in the bottle, mainly serving to give the polish a little
something-something glow that catches the light. I couldn’t get the holo to pop
on my nails; it might need sunlight. The formula is easy to work with, a little
on the thinner/more sheer side. This color was 2-3 coats for full opacity on me.
Thanks for reading! Coming up soon are my reviews of the limited Glisten & Glow
Fall Crellies on Friday and the Great Lakes Lacquer Animal Crossing Collection over
the weekend, so stay tuned! Say hi on Instagram or leave a comment below.
